Montsalvat, Eltham - Wedding Ceremony & Reception
Once an artist colony, this French / European Village inspired location is the real deal. Tiny artist studios in mud brick and stone, the Great Hall and Gallery built by hand in bluestone, granite and limestone from demolition sites across victoria. Demolition of a period building in Collins street, Melbourne (Royal Insurance Building), the owner Justus Jorgensen, was able to save the limestone windows and stone balconies that now give the Great Hall its character. Students carved other windows and the gargoyles giving the building an authentic medieval look.
Truly a photographers paradise, and on a personal note, where I chose to have my own wedding ceremony, Montsalvat will always be one of my favourite locations for a wedding!
